WordPress 2.5…
As people have been having problems with the image uploading facility of WordPress 2.5 I had decided not to upgrade this blog and would trial it on my “test blog” installation that I had set up. The upgrade was easy – download the new files from WordPress.org, unzip them and use my FTP client to upload them to my server, overwriting the current files. All I had to do then was perform the database upgrade by navigating to the “wp-admin/upgrade.php” location and click on the link that said “Upgrade Database”. No problems so far.
After logging into the admin pages I was greeted by an unfamiliar interface – it has been changed a lot since 2.3.3, for the better I think. The first thing I wanted to try was uploading a picture to a post – Using Internet Explorer 7 – you could select the file on your computer but then it would just freeze. Trying it Firefox 2.0.0.14 it works fine! Even better than 2.3.3 for me – as when I go try to select an previously uploaded file in my current WordPress 2.3.3 install it brings up the admin homepage in the iframe window, whereas in the 2.5 test blog I am able to select previously uploaded media.
